What is meditation? What is its aim?
Different traditions vary in their answer to these questions:
- a process of looking beyond the superficial
- the development of mindfulness or awareness
- realisation of your true Self
- union with God
- liberation of the mind or soul
- integration of body, mind and spirit
Meditation is a way of going beyond beliefs and ideas, however profound, to the experiential knowledge of the divine essence which indwells all.
All the great traditions contain ways of meditation; in this respect, there are far less differences between them:
Please get in touch with Martin for information about one-to-one sessions for the teaching and deepening of meditation practices, and also his occasional workshops on the various paths of meditation.
Soul-Centred or Spiritual Counselling
are terms currently in use for the one-to-one accompaniment which is aimed
at addressing issues concerning our path in life: how to live in the Now and
dissolve karma (ingrained tendencies that do not serve us ); how to discover
our place within the divine purpose; how to relate to others in a deeper,
truer, more life-affirming way; and in relation to these and other life issues,
what spiritual practices are the most useful.
A safe, accepting and encouraging space is provided in which to awaken from
the false premises which cause pain; for the soul yearns to be reconnected
with the Source of wholeness, wisdom and love.
By accessing the true Self within, beyond confusion and conditioning, our
own innate wisdom can guide us through all the challenges that living in the
world presents – for example, the challenges provided by our work, relationships
and health. The Soul-Centred Counsellor acts like a “midwife”
to the soul which is in labour to be “re-born” in the image of
its original innocence, freedom, light and immortality.
This approach includes but also goes beyond traditional counselling methods,
drawing upon silence, prayer, meditation, self- observation, healing, and
other practices, whose purpose is to release the inner resources which we
all possess.
The spiritual approaches to wholeness and inner freedom which are drawn on
by the Soul-Centred Counsellor have been refined over thousands of years of
conscious experience.
